Docmosis 2024: Product Improvements, Security, and Cloud Evolution

28 February 2025

Highlights for Docmosis in 2024 included supporting customers migrating from DWS2 to DWS4, publishing our new Cloud API documentation, and beginning work toward SOC2 compliance.

It was a productive year that brought upgrades and enhancements for customers while setting the stage for further improvements in the year ahead.

DWS2 to DWS4 Migration

To ensure the Cloud service remains 100% stable and reliable, our developers always carefully evaluate all service updates and software releases to ensure that templates that are working today will continue to generate documents correctly in the future.

As the PDF and DOCX specifications evolve, and the underlying service technology and infrastructure advances, not all new features can be safely applied to older versions of the Cloud service. Some changes accumulate over time and led to the release of the new DWS4 version in 2023.

In 2024, Docmosis worked closely with customers to support their migration from DWS2 to DWS4, making the transition as smooth as possible. This involved developing some unique tools to compare output between versions, and these tools will continue to be improved over time.

As well as a faster, and enhanced rendering engine, DWS4 introduced modern features such as multi-user accounts with role management and the ability to partition work using environments.

Customers using DWS3 remain unimpacted. With each Cloud version typically having a service life of around 10 years, they can expect long-term stability, predictable performance, and the flexibility to upgrade when it suits their needs.

Interactive Cloud API documentation

Last year Docmosis published it’s new Cloud API documentation, providing comprehensive instructions on using the API.  Covering key concepts such as requests, responses, and authentication, it includes an extensive list of endpoints and their associated parameters making the API more accessible and easier to understand.

A key feature of the new documentation is the ability to call the API directly from the page, allowing users to enter their own API key and test requests in real time using their own Cloud account.

In 2025, we plan to release API documentation in other formats, such as Postman, with the goal of providing more flexible ways for developers to work with our Cloud API and integrate Docmosis into their applications.

The new API documentation can be found here.

Toward SOC2 compliance

In 2024, Docmosis took the first steps on our journey toward achieving SOC2 compliance.

A widely recognised security standard used by SaaS businesses around the globe, working toward SOC2 demonstrates our commitment to security, confidentiality and privacy.

We acquired specialised software to streamline the compliance process, and engaged a Virtual Chief Information Security Officer from Kobalt.io to provide expert guidance and ensure our approach aligns with best practice.

SOC2 compliance isn’t just about meeting an industry standard – at Docmosis we believe that by proactively addressing areas such as risk management, data privacy, and system reliability, we foster a culture of security that our customers trust.

Achieving SOC2 certification is a milestone we’re committed to reaching in 2025.
